I’m Jared. I’m not a parent, and I want to say that before anything else.

Here’s what I am: someone who spent years working inside the systems your child’s school connects to. I worked in children’s services and with high-risk youth, and I now work in mental health navigation in Alberta. I’ve done individualized program planning. I’ve sat in the meetings where one or two family members face five or six professionals who all know each other by first name. I watched the same thing happen over and over: a parent who knew exactly what their child needed, and couldn’t find the words fast enough in a room moving at the professionals’ pace.

Prebrief is what I kept wishing those parents had walked in holding.

It is not parenting advice. You’re the expert on your kid, and nothing in this toolkit changes that. Prebrief is a meeting prep system: the scripts, the templates, the exact sentences for the moment the school says “we don’t think your child qualifies” or “we don’t have the resources.” You bring the love and the knowledge of your child. Prebrief handles the language and the structure of the conversation.

It is also not legal advice. When a right is being denied, the toolkit tells you where to escalate in your province or state, and when it is time to find a lawyer.
